laptops burning problem

Ok, my gateway use to burn dvd's like scan them then write them in under an hour about 45 mins aprox., i formatted to xp pro everything was reinstalled ie. drivers etc. and ever since then its taking about 3 hours no lie to burn a dvd now... its really aggravating.. is there something wrong? should i call gateway? i've had it for about a year now and a couple of months.

it could be the media you are using, or your settings within your burning program itself?

i've checked the settings on the dvdxcopy and there the same on my comp. my media settings are set to max.
