Having major problems-windows 2000 Pro

Okay, unable to go anywhere or do anything on my laptop. It is Windows 2000 Professional.
My desktop comes up normal, but when I try to do anything, all of the icons disappear for about 3 seconds and it just shows my background picture, and then it shows the icons again..............but nothing happens. No matter if I click on Ad-Aware or Internet Exporer, it does this. What the fuck is going on, Abex?

Okay, now what does that mean in English?

How do I boot in safe mode with networking? Do I just turnoff the puter manually or use shutdown, or what?

Something is fucked. Explorer is dying. There is a lot of shit that could cause it. Try a scan in safe mode for sure. Did you recently install anything or update any drivers??

shut off the computer and at boot up, I think you hit F8 for boot options...then choose safe mode to boot up. If you run the software and it doesnt help, put in a win2000 disc and repair windows.

Don't have disc, but I will give it a try with the safe boot.
