Trojan help

How do you remove Internet Explorer? I caught a Trojan virus and have run everything under the sun. Everytime I open IE I still get sent to various sites. I know its still there. I have run every kind of spyware adware removal program and it still wont leave. I use my Firefox browser with no problem. Its just the IE one that is affected. The Trojan virus is the Downloader AWX Trojan. My antivirus has caught it and deleted it, so its said a few times, but its still deep down in my registry somewhere. HELP PLEASE!

You can sue Microsoft for billions of dollars, get congress involved and it'll still be there. If you run Windows you're stuck with IE.

http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...system+restore

I'd start with the first link and go from there. Once you get it cleaned make sure you install/update your AV product.

click start and then click run
type msconfig and hit enter
it'll bring up a box with some tabs
click on the tab labeled Services
scroll down until you find System Restore Service
Uncheck that box and hit apply

exit out of that and reboot the computer.

If you're an admin, right-click "my computer", click system properties. One of the tabs says "system restore". Just check the box to turn it off.

Just an FYI, you cannot remove IE. It is deeply embedded in MS XP. I ran into the same issue at work and finally decided to use a better browser.

Yes you can, goto control panel, add/remove programs, add/remove windows componets, and uncheck IE.

Oh an btw, check your dns servers and see if the spyware app changed them.

You need to read what that actually does!! You cannot remove IE completely. That would be like removing explorer.

Here is the information sheet and clean-up instructions from McAfee's website. You might also try running HijackThis! and remove the Browser Helper Object it creates...

I see the problem, Chris.

With Hi-Jack this, hit ALT-F4, * HOME, simultaneously, then hit # Shift F6.

On a side note, do a system restore for 2 weeks ago, or before you think you caught the virus.
