Computer freezes

So my friend has had a rebuilt computer for about 2 years now. She got it from a friend. Anyways, (i can't believe she did this) She was running her puter for 2 years without a firewall or anti virus programn. (she is definately not the brightest bulb in the shop if yah know what i mean, hot as hell though) She came to me one day complaing about her computer freezing up. So, I went in and cleaned it up for her downloaded a firewall , AVG, cleaned up her registry, and some other stuff. Anyways, i found a virus. I've never dealt with a virus before so i deleted it. I wasn't sure how to get rid of it. So, her computer is still freezing. Did I not properly get rid of the virus?

When the AVG quarentines the virus you have the option to delete it.

Trend micro housecall? Is that anti virus?

If that pc has been running for 2 years unprotected I'd personally get any data off and blow it away and do a clean install and secure it before putting it back online.

I usually use the Microwave and that works great. Or, if you want a slow thaw, put it in the sink with some warm water. Works great for steak and chicken too.
