Some compatability ?s (SATA, PSU's)

1. If I have a 1st gen SATA motherboard, can I buy a SATA 3.0gb/s drive and will it operate at 1st gen 150 SATA speeds or will it just not work at all? I would obviously just buy a 150SATA one, but I've been seeing some good deals on the 2nd gen ones.

2. I think my PSU is going out on my Antec case. I saw a deal for a PSU recently, but it said ATX v2.0 PSU or something. Would this work for me? I know for a fact this isn't a "2.0" case/psu because its about 2-3 years old.

I can't comment on the SATA side. I recommend pcpowerandcooling.com power supplies. 5 year warranty, and nice. They'll have something that'll fit. Hell, they make some that fit Dells proprietary stuff.

Take care,

My '03 Sold.

1. Yes, the drives will work.
2. 2.0 has additional power cables for newer motherboards.

Make sure the power supply you get isn't a 24 pin ATX connector, a lot of the newer ones are moving that direction. If you find a great deal, and must get one... run by Frys for an adapter.
