Installed a DVD burner, having problem

I installed a new Lightscribe DVD Burner on my desktop and now I'm getting this message whenever I boot up. Any ideas? It allows me to continue but I'd rather just fix whatever problem it's having.

Check the jumper (Master/Slave) settings per the manual that came with your drive.

Both drives on the ide cable are probably jumpered as "master"; jumper the new drive to be the "slave"

I honestly haven't had any time to jack with it and probably won't until Sunday. Appreciate the info though, thanks everybody. I should have checked to make sure it was jumpered right but was in a hurry to play around with it I'll post up on Sunday and let you guys know.

Most drives come jumpered from the factory in the cable select position. This means that you have to have the drive plugged into the right plug on the IDE cable for it to work. Just change it and you'll be cool. Is your boot device Sata?? Seems a little wierd that it is not finding the Pri Master (means that the DVD drive is on the Pri Slave...)

I had trouble on my comp getting it to boot off my SATA HD if i had any device set as master on the IDE1 chain... No matter what BIOS settings i tried it would always default to the IDE1 master for boot... I can only use slave on that chain

That would either be the boot order or just some screwy logic in the BIOS. This might also happen if the SATA controller was an afterthought (PCI Card). Even with this, though, you can go into the BIOS on a Dell and turn the drive throwing the message off so it does not attempt to detect it...

If you have problems, Jose, feel free to pm me.
