board access problems?

ok, i got DSL back, but now the only problem is, that i can not get on DFWstangs with it. to get on, i have use my dail up service that is paid up until the end of june. i ping'd the server per MikeB's directions, and got a response. also, i can get on every/any other website with no problem. i have tried a laptop going through our router/modem with the same results. i am using earthlink, if that helps to figure it out.

Run a command prompt and type

telnet dfwstangs.net 80

the screen should blank then type

GET

Paste the results.

Type that IP address into your brower and see if it will take you to the site.

It has nothing to do with cache or browsing the site by IP address. Chris might have your address blocked on port 80 from the server for some reason. Might want to talk to him.

Since the ping worked OK his DNS is not the problem.

As cruz said maybe chris has his IP blocked, or there is something on his computer blocking port 80 for some websites for some reason.

Billy, check this out. could be the issue...

in internet explorer click on tools then internet options > connections on the tab. There is a box that should list your dial up connections. Make sure no aol is there. If it is, remove all of the aol stuff. If nothing there, go to start>run type cmd > then at the prompt, ipconfig /all does it list any DNS servers?

doubtful it is the provider.

If its also happening on another box behind your router, unplug your router and plug your computer directly to the modem.

had the problem before i got the router, it was a problems when i first got it up and running. i was on the phone for an hour with the tec department because the modem had to have new firmware sent downloaded to it. and as soon as i was able to surf, this was this second site i went to and it did not work. but of course i was not sure if it was not something to do with the board or something else.

Tom, i have tried using IE FireFox, and Netscape. same result on all of them.

anyone have a different modem i could try?
