Need help concerning desktop icons and the text below them

I have a friend that bought a used computer from her work. When she fired it up the icons show up fine on the desk top. But there are no labels under them. (ex. "my computer", "internet explorer") But she can put the cursor on the icon and when it highlights it, the labeling shows up.

She could probably live with that, but she was trying to load the drivers for her modem and in the box where the list is, the list is invisible too. There fore when going thru the steps, she is missing some of the info and not setting it up properly. Anybody have a clue how to turn the labeling on for the icons? I have never heard of this happening before.

you can either just simply reset your theme or change the font color of the icons..since you don't know how to reset your theme im going to say you obviously don't know how to change the font colors

right click on desktop>properties>appearance tab> put it as windows default.

Thanks, But pretty much figured out when they reloaded Windows to sell this thing, it must be corrupt. Will reload windows 2000.

Just making sure there was not another place to do it, thanks for the pointer.
