I bought another new video card

7900GT Super Clocked from eVga. This card is fucking disgusting ( when it works ).

Performance
NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT
550 MHz GPU
24 Pixel Pipelines
400 MHz RAMDAC

Memory
256 MB, 256 bit DDR3
1580 MHz (effective)
50.56 GB/s Memory Bandwidth

This card is seriously the most insane video card I can think of thats cheaper than $360. The only problem is the first gen of the cards had constant locking issues ( as did all overclocked 7900's ). I had to RMA the one I had to get the second gen card. Most people clearly do not need a card this powerful, but since I have a wide screen monitor I'm stuck to games in 1680x1050 which is extremly taxing on the card. This card runs everything I've thrown at it with such ease that I cant even explain it. I'm just in awe. I upgraded from a 6800GT.

i hear ya abecx, I have a 7800GTX 512MB and I "would've" bought a new 7900 but man everyone I know with one had some sort of problem with locking up.
So I decided to hold off on buying one, and + the 7800GTX showed to be more powerful in higher resolutions than the 7900 (i'm talking single card here). And i probably won't buy one to be honest... Its a fucking great upgrade for those with later gen cards, but almost doesn't seem worth it for me.

Awesome card, I have the EVGA 7900GTX EGS that I run at 700/1800 all day long. I had a 7800GT and did the Step-Up with EVGA. Their warranty, Step-Up program, and customer service are second to none.

did it come O/C ?? or did you OC it?

To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

No, it comes overclocked from the vendor.

I'm still trying to determine the water block I'm going to go with.

You seriously got you 7900 to 700/1800??
What speed is the memory on it? I thought the 7900's were using slower memory hence why most are at 1600.

On a cold day I can hit 750/1900 but only for benchmarks really.

Quick question as it is right now, stock or overclocked what kind of temps are you getting Abecx, and Dmh?

Well, mine is clocked higher from the factory by default. I dont have current valid results because I have a faulty card so I'll have to get back to you once I get my replacement. I will of course show the difference of air cooled vs water cooled when I do get then new card and the water sink.

I have actually had to bump mine back a little with the outside temps going up. I ran 700/1800 for the last month up until about a week ago. Now with the higher temps I am running 690/1780. It has 1.2ns GDDR3 memory. That is on stock voltage for now. My idle temp today is 42c and my highest load temp I have seen is 56c. The temps on these cards are great. Overclocking is not temp limited but it is voltage limited. These cards do great with higher voltage but you have to disable the new Over Voltage Protection they have added.

Do you have software that measures the temp of your video card?

Temp is in the driver control panel. I ran Omega drivers for a long time but he is more of an ATI guy so his Nvidia drivers are slow coming out. I use Extreme G drivers now and love them. I am currently on their 84.37v2.
