Hmm, I haven't screwed around with computers for a while. Is the Sempron the new budget processor? I told myself I'd just keep it cheap to get this running, and If I was gonna upgrade I'd probably wanna just take it up to 939.

Its one of. I bought one of those combos not too long ago as all I needed for a 2nd pc was a cpu/board. Its socket 754 and agp but the 3100 sempron runs stock at 1.8ghz and on that board I was able to get it to 2.25 ghz using a stock hsf from amd.

If you just need something to hold you over till you can afford a 939 board, pci express vid card it might work.

What speed ram do you have? They also have a 1gb corsair value ram pc3200 for $69.

This is in my old tank of a system. It already has a gig of PC3200. Hey would it be possible to install XP on a secondary drive hooked up to my laptop and then put it in my PC?

EDIT: And I originally thought it might be the PSU but I'm leaning towards the mobo as the problem now.

I would think it would be easier to just do the install in the pc. Chipset and drivers would all be different and could piss off the XP activation.

This is really strange. Looks like I might not need anything to fix it after all. I took the drive out and formatted it in my external enclosure and XP setup seemed to like that alot because It's installing now.
