Ok, my brother just bought a brand new Dell, and instead of having just a regular PCMCIA slot, it has a PCIExpress (some ppl call it an Expresscard) slot. Is there any adapter or external PCMCIA USB adapter?
No, ok... Expresscard is the technology that is replacing the PCMCIA slots on laptops. It is the equivalent to PCI Express in a desktop. So we got this brand new laptop with the Expresscard slot, and we are trying to use a PCMCIA card, but its a different style connection... So im trying to find out if there is an external PCMCIA slot (kinda like the External Flash memory readers, but for a PCMCIA card)
PCI Express is a video card slot. Express card slots are totally different. I have not seen anything for them yet though is the problem. I hope that they come out with some stuff for you guys soon.
Actually, PCI Express is not specifically a video card slot. It's designed to not only replace AGP, but also to replace PCI entirely. Meaning boards with 6 or 7 PCI-E slots, instead of 5 or 6 PCI slots + an AGP slot.
