I need a new router!

I'm sick of this router! It's a Belkin FSD6231-4
I've had problems with it in the past, but they came and went.
Now I lose my damn internet connection every 10-15 minutes, I have to either "repair" or power cycle the router.
Also, I'm on the gold tier for comcast 6000k down 768k up.
and when the router is connected I can only get about 400kb downloads, but when the router is out of the question (Cable modem connected directly to comp) I can get downloads up to 800Kb +!
There are no firmware upgrades for this router either.
So what router can I buy that will let me experience the full speed of my Broadband, I don't want to pay for Gold Tier if I can't even reach it advertised speeds half the time with the router on.

Out of these two routers which one should I get?
D-Link DI-604
Netgear RP614

Or are there any others out there that will give me the speed I want?

I have the D-Link DI-604 and I think I'm gonna get rid of it soon. My problem is very similar to yours. If it's not slowing down my connection, its cutting it off...and then I have to reset, "repair", unplug the power, and sometimes even go into the router settings and re-set it up. I've upgraded the firmware with 2 different versions, and 1 of them fucked it up worse.

I have the Linksys WRK54G wireless router with Comcast and it works great. I am getting 7.5Mb downloads speeds average. Both of my daughters computers run wireless cards upstairs and they both pull around 4Mb. This is my second Linksys and I have never had a problem. Lots of config options also.

Maybe i'm stupid but I can't find any web-sites that sell the Linksys WRK54G.
They all bring up the Linksys WRT54G

Yes. I used it to the max, intill I got banned from comcast. I guess they didn't like pushing over 500 in 2to3 weeks but now I got DSL and I love it. Im NEVER down and I get the same ping times for half the price. I just download around 350k max but upload is 55k a sec. Alot better for ftp transfers.

Okay I narrowed it down to Linksys, seems like there one of the best in the industry.
But which router should I get from there?

My WRK54G was replaced by the WRT54G. Once I got all the port forwarding and security figured out it has run flawlessly since.

Check the cables that go from the router to the pc and router to the wall. It is possible you have a cheap cable in there that is negatively affecting your speed. I had this problem with my netgear router and different cables fixed it. Also, running alot of encryption on your wireless network can slow it down, if possible, turn down encryption to 64 bit or so. If that doesn't work I recommend linksys or netgear.

I also run the WRT54G, For my router and Wireless. and then branched off that, I run the A Gigabit network EG008W. For all my Gigabit network cards I run EG1064.
