frys has a 3000 amd 64 for 139 today

but Ithought I would give a shot to dfwstangs first, I really don't like frys.
I'm sure someone here has upgraded and has one sitting around in a closet.
Ebay has the drives too but when you add the inflated shipping people stick on they are all in the 45.00 range.

I may have an Asus K8V-SE Deluxe and Athlon 64 3200 for sale. I will know tomorrow if a friend buys it or not. I also have 1gb of nice ram I was running in it.

ddr 400 and pc3200 are the same thing. That is what I was running in it. Three sticks of DDR at 400 speeds. Here are the specs. Asus K8V-SE Deluxe

ddr works in pairs, 2 - 512ddr = 1 gig ram = 512 of ddr, how does 3 chips work?

Will that mobo work with EIDE hd == 1xUltraDMA133 supports two hard drives
I guess it will.

DDR doesn't necessarily work in pairs unless you are running dual channel which requires a matched set. DDR stands for Double Data Rate. I am testing my new rig right now with one stick(1gb) of my Dual Channel DDR kit. The Asus K8V-SE Deluxe is a socket 754 so it doesn't support Dual Channel mode but has three DIMM sockets. Here are a list of the ports on the board.

-2 x ATA133
-2 x SATA, RAID0, RAID1
Promise R20378 RAID controller
-1xUltraDMA133 supports two hard drives
-2xSATA
-RAID0, RAID1, RAID 0+1
