Cant rewind or fast forward on Windows Media Player 10

What would cause this? Codecs? On certain videos (not all) I cant fast forward. I can drag the bar but it will just jump back to where it was.

some people are like slinkies; they're completely useless, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

its an Mpeg. Also, it will play just fine on my old comp, but not on this one. My WMP10 looks different on here then it does on my old computer, could it be a different version?

BTW, its not just codecs that cause this problem 9 times out of 10, the index file needs to be rebuilt for proper seek function.
