How long do you think it will take before they combine Google maps with Google earth?

Sometime in 2002. I see ground zero in New York, but the street where my house is doesn't exist (road build in 2002).

I downloaded it a few weeks ago. It's pretty cool, but the areas are quite outdated. Microsoft is coming out with MSN Virtual Earth, which is suppose to hit sometime in July. Hopefully the images will be more time appropiate.
Here's a good video showing how much better it will be.

Check out the image quality and tilt angles too.

Thats not Area 51, its Edwards AFB in Cali, look southwest of the SR-71's and you can see a F-22 too. Area 51 is at 37'14 and 115'48.

the coolest thing i found about the program was to turn on the TERRAIN feature and do a flythrough of the grand canyon. Pretty neat, lot of work must have went into this.

How so? It's using the same satallite images that have been available publically for the last 10-15 years. Some of the more rural areas have images from the early 90's, and the most recent images I've seen are from mid 2004.

They just piece it together and place it on a 3d terrain/globe to allow you to zoom in and out, and fly around different areas.
