1394 Connection!?
What is this? Its in my network connections. I also have an onboard LAN and i'm nto seeing a connection for it, is it the 1394? I thought 1394 was IEEE... i dunno i'm confused... need to go back to school

Sounds like someone hacked your computer. Maybe you need to reformat.

i dunno, but i can't get the MSI (motherboard) driver to work for the LAN, i dont know why that wont work either..... i'm planning a reformat, if i could network with my other computer to save all my por.... uh i mean important information!

it is you firewire connection, do you have a firewire port on your pc? if not it might be from your sound card if it has a firewire port on it.

yea i have an audigy zs2 card with the front ports i believe one of those is a firewire... but what i can't figure out is why it wont recognize the onboard lan?!

Check your bios if you know how. Usually it will have it disable or something. That happen to me before on my sound.

First off, IEEE is a standard set by the industry to attempt some sort of compatiablity instead of having 400 different variants on the same technology. 1394IEEE would mean the Firewire standard.
Second, 1394IEEE will show up in WinXP Network Connections by default if you have a firewire port. It does this to attempt and simplify network connections via firewire, normally it just ends up confusing the end user.
This is not going to be your primary network connection. If you have a network port, then mostly likely one of two things is the culprit, the network port is turned off in your bios, or the drivers for your network card need to be installed.
