do they make an adapter to wire home stereo speakers into your computer? or maybe an external receiver/mixer that i could plug into my computer and then to my stereo speakers?

Just go to radio shack and get the adapter for 1/8th inch to 1/4 inch or RCA whatever your inputs are!

Run the RCA plugs into the aux input of your stereo receiver.
Computer sound cards don't have enough power to wire directly to your stereo speakers. You need an amp between your computer & speakers.
