ok so it will fit on a DVD then, do you have any kind of video software? Nero or Pinnacle? if so just drag them to the time line and click burn.

I just have Nero Ultra Edition 6.3.1.6....I've tried screwing around with it and I don't know how to use Nero to make a DVD. It has to be in the DVD file structure right? I was under the impression I had to first convert the movies either to mpeg or dvd file structure.

Nero should do all that on the fly, when I get home I'll go through it so I can better tell you how since I use Pinnacle Studio most of the time. I'll try to do some screen captures in the process to make it easier to describe.

Easiest/fastest way ive found to do this is combine with Virtualdub to 1 AVI file then convert to DVD format with winavi converter, burn with either Nero or Dvd decrypter. You may need dvd shrink to compress it to fit on a dvd-5 b/c you will probably have one massive fkn file when winavi is done. Anyhow you can select to auto burn with nero or decrypter when using dvd shrink.
To combine the 2 files with v-dub. Click(file tab) open file, then append avi segment, click the 2nd avi, then (video tab) click direct steam copy, go back to file tab, click save Avi. Thats it, couple minutes later....1 avi file.

So I tried using that Pinnacle Studio 8 that came with my AIW 9600xt... what a piece of shit that program is. Tons of visual defects (blocks and crawling), and nice loud audio pops/chirps/squeals occasionally throughout the video. The source mpeg was fine... just needed something to go in and remove the commercials.

Guess it's back to Ulead Video Editor and it's random crashing, until I can get ahold of Adobe Premier at some point :-/

Hey Dark, do you know what this means?

I have 2 AVI files, which I converted with WinAVI to DVD files. Then in Nero, on a DVD-Video template, I dragged all the DVD files into the Video_TS folder, and it says that. WTF am i supposed to do? And because of that, when I burned the DVD, it starts from the 2nd video.

Heres a pic of all the files it made.

And this is what it says right before the burn starts.

I don't have much experience with actually making a dvd from scratch... haven't ever run into a situation where I'd need it. But, from the screenshots, it looks as though you might have to switch from DVD-ROM (ISO) in your nero compilation, to DVD-ROM (UDF), or possibly DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO). Though, I don't know how that will affect compatibility with your standalone player.

To avoid that, you might go back into WinAVI, and see if there is a setting to limit the maximum file sizes created.

Yeah I figured it out. Apparently on normal DVDs, the VOB files are never that big, so I just used the option to limit them to about 1 gig each and it made more of them. I've never made a DVD from scratch either....but I got my hands on a movie I really wanted to watch at home.
