wierd problem - DNS.EXE file not viewable on server???

has anyone ever seen a situation where a certain file (just one file name) was not able to be seen on a computer at all?

You can copy it out there then not see it. Can't see it in a command prompt with attrib either. If you try to rename an existing file the same name it won't let you because there is one there already... but you can not see it. The computer can not see it either appearantly - will get errors saying that a program cannot find that file when it is askign for it... it can see it on a cd too, but if you move it to any place on the computer it dissapears. wierd. Anyone ever hear of this? The file is DNS.EXE and it is on a win2k server with SP4. wierdest thing I've seen lately.

Yes, I've seen it a lot with hidden files and weird file names in windows, like names like " warez" ( *space*warez ) etc.. All the cases I've seen were bad though.

any way to "un-do" it without reinstalling the OS?
