Residential Fiber?

Anyone here have it yet? I keep seeing it advertised in the Keller area and a few others... but not here (west Ft. Worth) yet. I'm on cable now and it is pretty damn fast but shit if fiber is close to the same price or even cheaper - I'm gonna get it when it is available!

You talking about fiber to the prem? I work at SBC and that is ALL I have heard about for a few months and they have started testing it out in some places but its not mainstream yet as far as I know.

By prem - I am not sure what you mean. I am thinking it is going all the way to the house. If this is the case it won't take long before it spreads every where. I will have it fo sho!

You're talking about Verizon FIOS.

That is fiber optic all the way to the house and for about 50 bucks a month you get 15mbps download..
For 40 bucks you get 5Mbps download.....2Mbps upload
The top service is 30Mbps down and 5Mbps up for $200

They are planning to eventually offer voice, data, and TV over the line.

You can read more here and see if you can get it.

That sounds sweet, My brother had a house built last year in Grapevine. They have fiber optic wired to the house, He was telling me about how it was all going to wired up to it, phone cable etc. Think they are or have started to implement it here lately. He don't even care I was like sweet telling him how fast it would be. Hes like oh so it would be faster than what I have now {dial up} I said ya just a little.

Actaully fiber to the curb was tried and failed here at SBC. That is why they are concentrating on firber to the prem (yes premis, so to the house) and that will work badass. Next step is to get rid of all the the IW (inside wiring) and replace it with fiber and do away with copper all together! Only problem with fiber is splicing it together

I wish I could get fiber to the curb! After hearing those speeds, I'm embarrassed to say what kind of high speed connection I get for $50 a month.

Yes, absolutely correct. FIOS is not Fiber to the curb. It is fiber all the day to your damn living room..

Now if Verizon would only get off their asses and get it to mine.
