IP Conflict

"There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network." Does anyone know how to fix this or what is going on? I have windows xp Pro and it pops up in the bottom right hand corner sometimes. I also have a wireless network

Someone might be trying to use your wireless network. Are you using DHCP or Static IP addressing?

I was told it isnt a prob and you cant really fix it. My friend found somethin on the internet about it. Thanks

hmmm yes something can definatly be done about it. you have two machines with the same ip address, grant you NORMALLY this doesnt cause too many problems with your everyday home user.

Next time you get the message go on the computer and go to run in your start menu

type cmd and hit ok

then type ipconfig

write down the ip address and do this on all the computers on your network until you find one using the same ip.
