, works with xp and 2000. It actually uninstalls it (and anything else you want gone), not some workaround.
You could also check out nLite
, to create a new install cd, with all the components you want removed, already gone (eg: they never get installed in the first place). I've been using my nLite'd XP install for a few months and it's been great.
I'm looking for suitable MMC alternatives, defrag, scandisk, disk management, processes, services, event viewer, device manager, etc. Currently, my XP install doesn't have IE or OE, but it does still have the IE Core rendering engine, which is where most of the problems lie in the first place... but you can't get rid of it without completely destroying the MS Managment Console and all the snap-in's, since they're all dependant on the IE rendering engine. If I can find alternatives for most of the MMC apps, IE core will be the next thing to get booted.
XPLite will also remove the IE Core if you want it to. Just know it'll break your MMC apps if you do
