Help with accessing blocked websites

What are those sites called that have an address bar within their page and let's you go to another page without leaving the original? Kind of like frames where the top of the page stays the same, but you can pull up another page within it.

Any links to them?

Yeah translating usually works, but it used to always cause errors for me. There is one I can't think of at the moment...I don't know if it's still around.

No. Websense at work. I think it is an anonymous proxy like the guy above was talking about. I swear I have seen sites like this before... just can't find any now.

Try this:

http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/

Just put that in front of any page you want to see, such as

http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/htt...rums/index.php

.

Take one of the IP addresses or URLs from this list:
http://www.multiproxy.org/anon_proxy.htm

Open IE and click Tools > Internet Options. Select the Connections tab.
click the LAN Settings button
Put a check mark in the box where it says "Use a proxy server for LAN"
Copy the URL or IP address into the Address Box and copy the Port number into the Port box.

Ok your way out and try to connect. Many of these in the list may be old and dead, so you'll have to work your way through them.

NOTE: After the IP address or URL, you'll see a colon and a number. That number is the port number. Do not copy the colon into anything.

Good luck.

Be careful doing this. When I used to work at Stream, you had to go through Stream's proxy to even get out to the internet, so trying to use an annonymous proxy just blocked internet access all together :-/

Make sure you write down any proxy settings already in IE, before adding any annonymous proxy servers.

Websense is very solid product and if you see it you can probably count on not being able to get around it. If you are running active directory there then they can probably pull a report and show that you were trying to get around the proxy/filtering.

Have you looked into MegaProxy? However, it's not free.

There might be another option besides using a proxy.
If you know how, you can setup an IPSEC VPN connection back to your home. When you have a VPN connection, you can simply RDP to your box at home and surf over the RDP session.

It's the best way, I know of, to circumvent websense. I had to do that when I was on a contract a few years back.

Heck, you could even get porn through that method.

Now he has to hope they allow outbound vpn connections. If they have it done right it should not work and you should have to go thru the proper channels to get changes to an ACL made. An SSL based vpn might pass thru easier than ipsec.

But still if they have gone to the trouble to block and they have a policy against it then by you going that far to get around it would likely get you into trouble.

To get around Websense here at work, I can sometimes just ping the URL of the site, get the IP and then use the IP as the web address to view the site. thats how I bypass websense here at work for most sites like yahoo, dfwstangs, and a few other sites.

go to www.pureprivacy.com On the very first page it shows two boxes that you can enter websites in. One is google, one is yahoo. Enter the name of the website in either box (i prefer google, but thats just me) and click "Get It." thats what i used to use to access everything but the teachers caught on and blocked it.

If they are blocking proxy avoidance sites this would be blocked. I have websense here at my work and its in the list of proxy avoidance sites.

having the same problem as of yesterday,

weird that before www.dfwstangs.net was always blocked, however i could still access the site through www.dfwstangs.com until yesterday atleast.

i remember someone posting before that you can just type in the ipaddress on the url bar and access the site. This true?

http://70.84.246.84 is the only way I can access dfwstangs from work. Otherwise it's blocked by websense. Try it.
