Computer keeps shutting down

First of all, I HATE COMPUTERS!! Ok, rant out of the way!! Now, my computer keeps shutting down without any type of warning. Shuts down completely and I have to shut my surge protector off and back on again and then turn the computer back on before it will restart. What is going on. I uninstalled Norton because it bogged down my system so bad, so I have been running with anti-virus for about a week. Any help?? I am downloading the trial version of AVG right now.

My laptop was doing the same thing, and I *hope* it's fixed now. The reason why mine was shutting down is because it was getting too hot, so I got some compressed air and cleaned out the fans. It seems to run a lot cooler now, and it hasn't shut down since.

Run AVG Anti Virus, run Ad-Aware, run Spy Bot Search and Destroy. Also recommend you check Windows Update and make sure you have all the latest patches/updates.
