3.06Ghz, or 1.83Ghz, which is it???

Okay, so I bought a laptop a couple of days ago. I was checking the System info, and it says...

Intel Pentium 4 , 3.06Ghz,
1.83Ghz, 512Mb RAM

My question is, why does it say 3.06Ghz, and then right below it, it says 1.83Ghz?? What does that mean????

I'm not sure but my brand new computer has a pentium 4 and it is 3.06Ghz. That is the processing speed.

Pent 4's aren't made in 1.83 Ghz, it's 3.06 Ghz

I have no idea what the 1.83 Ghz is for...wish that was FSB

See, I was pretty sure that P4s didn't come in 1.83, so that just REALLY makes it more confusing. I have no idea why it says 1.83 underneath the 3.06. And yea, I wish it was the FSB , but it does have a 533mhz FSB, which is enough for a laptop (for now anyway).

I'm still confused. lol.

I have an AMD Athlon 64 and it has an integrated FSB that has a maximum of 2000mhz. Thats what i read from the AMD website anyways and it is also a maximum.

Windows XP automatically slows the clock speed to conserve battery power. Read about profiles in XP to force full clock all the time.

Yep, thats what is going on. Confused the crap out of me too the first time I saw it, until I did a little digging on the internet.

Yeah, that's the problem with the P4m's... it takes an assload of processing intensive work to get them to come off the minimum speed. I never did look into changing profiles with mine, but I'll keep that in mind for my next laptop... that shit pissed me off.
