Downloading Music

I was wondering what all sites are there to download music from. I can burn CD's, but I just would like to have music downloaded and I'm not too sure where to go. Got any ideas??? Thanks!

there are two versions, the free one and the pay one. There are some issues with the free one, not connecting and so forth at odd hours of the morning, but other than that its nothing really. www.limewire.com

What about Kazaa? A friend of mine uses Kazaa and it seems okay? Or are there better ones to download? Like limewire? Does it really matter?

was never a fan of kazaa, i got more spam and spyware than with any others. Bit torrent is nice too, but i like limewire better. Win MX is another option too and is decent.

I use Bittorrent, but the only problem is that alot of the sites are beginning to shut down. You have to do some searching to find some good ones anymore, but they are out there.

Yeah, I like LimeWire. I think I might use that one. I was also thinking about Kazaa but I don't know anything about it.

I heard that when you stop paying for Napster then your music that you "paid for" disappears. Not sure how true this is though.

Torrent sites will come and go. A lot are going subscription now, before you can even see the content. I guess they think the free accounts will deter the riaa/mpaa from signing up and browsing the information (I suppose it'll stop the spiders from collecting information... but I'd guess at that point someone would just sign up and check it out manually)

I'm know shutting down these sites isn't going to deter anyone from continuing. It most likely will result in people using newsgroups to share the .torrents (or the old fashioned way of splitting the file's up into small chunks that have to be put back together once received), or irc, or IM groups, or mailing lists, or simply just more creative ways try and get away from prying eyes on the web.
