Apple Mac Mini

anyone else seen this yet? I think it's pretty bad ass and am thinking about maybe getting one and doing something else with my HP. Starts at only $499.

there's also a new iPod Shuffle that's 512mb for only $99, but the downside I think is that it does not have a display.

What a turd.

It's gonna be just like the Cubes and iPods; great for looks, shitty because there is no expansion ability. What if you get a new game that requires a vid card better than what it comes with? You're screwed...

Hah! Yeah right. Like you're going to find a game worth upgrading for on a Mac. That's the only thing I don't like about being a Mac user. Game selection suuuuuuucks. That's what a PS2 is for anyway, so I don't lose any sleep over that one.

Haha, true. I guess I've just found that multiple expansion slots and a large, sturdy, easily opened case is a major plus.

they where talking about that new ipod on the radio this morn. sounds nice except for the fact that the mp3 playback is always random. there is a button to go to the next song, but i dont think you can choose the song you want to hear. no display, but its only $99.

yes, you can choose the song you want to hear. the way you do that is by making the song list in the order you want it on iTunes and then transfering it to the iPod. then, if you just want random songs you can hit the switch to go to "shuffle" mode.

What's cool about this is that it holds 512mb of music for only $99, which is a better price and higher capacity than the iRiver I have right now. what's also better is that the iPod will play all songs you put onto iTunes off of cd's, which are converted to mp4 on iTunes, and that format won't work on my iRiver.

Who still uses their computer for games.
Doesn't everyone use PSX2 & X-Box these days?
THey are cheaper & work better than playing off a keyboard & mouse.

Whenever a new RPG or first person shooter comes out I always get it for PC just for the fact that I can aim and do things better with a keyboard and mouse. With a ps2 controller it just ain't as easy. As far as the mac mini goes, I too started looking into one a few months ago but the processor speed just isn't great and of course expandability issues. I'm probably going to go with a 17inch power book and grab a large cinema display too. <--graphics and art guy as well

I own a shuttle sb75g2 and I'm QUITE happy. The right 'tiny' combo rules, no foot print and all the balls.

128M 8x agp 9600xt
2.6 P4 / newer chipset
1G fast ram
180G HDD (room for another and SATA)
Pioneer DVD burner
multi drive (cards/flash/etc)
gig lan
sound (not the best but I've got an unused pci slot should I want a nice card)
front and rear usb/firewire

I'm sure i'm leaving somethings out, and this gear is 1 year old; best most reliable PC i've ever used or owned. I've got 2 of them, this one above being the nicer setup; both are sweet (the lesser runs my HTPC).

I'm sure the newer shuttles are even better, but i'm in love w/ my sb75g2

Actually if you're looking to do a car computer you should take a look at this guy's setup in his bmw. I've also been looking at doing something like this whenever I get around to it.

Article

Then again Travla is starting to make these too:
