Component Cables...Worth it??

Well, I have an Xbox, and PS2...
I have the option to get either monster RCA cables
or go with more expensive (way more expensive)
component cables since my TV supports them.

Well my question is Are they really worth it?
and for those who have component cables, how is the picture quality in gaming, and watching DVD's...
thanks..
also this may be a long shot, but does anyone know where I can find a site that has a picture comparison between RCA and component cables image quality? thanks in advance!!

Just the standard $20 Xbox hd cables made a world of difference on my TV, I can't seem to justify paying 4 times the price for Monster stuff though. I'm guessing this is what you mean by components, the RGB connectors.

Monster is worse than Microsoft. Their cabling is way over priced and it's all 80% of the retailers keep on the shelf. I have a set of their $100 hd cables and I also have a set of the free ones that came with my cable box, there is absolutely no discernable difference in picture quality.

honestly, the only thing NOTICEABLE difference alot of times is how much lighter your wallet feels.

is that to say that the monster cable isn't a lower inner resistance, more optimally wound, higher strand count, better resistance to abrasion, stronger plug terminations, and better shielding? not likely, but other cables can be had MUCH cheaper.

Fiber optic cabling bothers me the most. When some sack at Comp USA, CC or Best buy tries to tell me it's better it's always fun. How is the $90 Monster cable going to perform better than the $6 one from Fry's or the $10 from Radio Shack? Lower resistance huh, to light? Better shielding, and from radio interference into a fiber optic transmission?

Don't get me wrong, I know there is a major advantage to good cabling in regard to signal level transmissions through RCAS and especially in a car. Even still though how are the Monster cables that are more than double the Stinger, Phoenix Gold or even Rockford stuff that much better?

I don't think they offer hd on the PS2.

I can notice the difference big time on my 32" toshiba. Especially when I go to someone elses house to watch a DVD and notice the suttle static in the picture compared to my TV. I paid around $40 I think, it's been a long time, but I bought the cheapest I could find at the time.

I paid 20 bucks for a pair on here for the xbox. Once I plugged it, the picture on my 51in Sony was way brighter and alot more detailed. Me and my friends noticed a big difference.

Component cables are absolutley worth it if you own the right type of display. On my 53" Elite it made a huge difference and it also helped with ESPN football.

On the Moster Cable note, I have carried and used Monster for several years and I have over $1000 invested in cables and line conditioning in my home theatre. The biggest difference between "out of the box" cables and something like a Monster Cable, is the diameter and winding that each cable posseses as well as shielding in some cases.
While I do agree that some of their products are way overpriced, a lot of them have potential to improve the performance of quality compenetes.

ex:
monster cable video 3, 2 meter component cables, retail $99.99. COST $64.00
rca component video cables 10ft, retail $19.99. COST $5.40

which ones have more markup?? i buy monster for my own shit b/c i like HURLEY, care.

But, more important than the difference b/w cable quality is type:
DVI > Component > S Video > Composite > Coxial
