DirectDVR and Tivo

whats the outlook on the DirectTV units allowing networking like the standalone units? I know they don't now, but is it in the cards or no? Also give me some ins and outs of either.

stand alones require a different tuner and the biggest drawback would be that you can't watch one thing and record another.

the built in DirecTV units have two tuners and allows you to record two shows at once or watch one while you record another*

there are other differences, but that is probably the biggest

I just left Best Buy and they had a DirecTV/Tivo unit for $99, thats what I have and love it

*this requires two cable lines from the dish outside (or multiswitch) to the reciever

hope that helps

thats the one I was looking at, it just sucks not to be able to get them to a pc or a different room. the directDVR unit is also cheaper service, 4.99 vs. 12.99, or free if you have TotalChoice packages
