on xp is there a way to manuely remove programs...i have so yahoo shit that takes up like 33.mb

Yahoo toolbar? Click the "Toolbar Settings" button and select "Uninstall" from the drop-down menu.

either of those should clean up the system nicely.. just go to the c directory and yank the program out..
