I'm sure there are other options, but I would just reformat and put XP on there. ME is god awful.

First off Windows ME stands for Must Erase.. I dont have much experence with ME because it was just junk first time I loaded it I unloaded it because novell client didnt work and it wouldnt let you exit to dos.. I would try to hit F8 when it says starting windows and try to get into safe mode.. run scan disk and uninstall any dumb programs on the computer..

I agree, I stuck with Win2k for as long as I could.

Windows 2k is great very solid OS, Windows XP is based on the same kernal but with some nice gui stuff and works with multimedia and games a little better..

Agreed - Windows ME did boot very quickly, but the system restore module was still being developed and was one of its many handicaps. I remember reading accounts where the system controlled restore folders would grow so fast, the user would quickly run out of HD space.

I didn't think it could get much better than Windows 2K but in my opion XP handles new hardware a bit better and has enough bells and whistles to make it worth upgrading to.

I know I have said it before but whoever continues to run yesterdays OS will be forced to deal with yesterdays problems. Granted, the newer OS's will have their problems as well but you will have a much larger support base than the older retired OS. I dont think Microsoft supports Windows ME anymore (or NT either).
