New Media Center

This new XP system looks pretty cool. Anyone know if you HAVE to have the media center version of Windows or if you can use an older version? Hate to buy a new pc just for this setup. Be cool to have Tv in everyroom w/out having to run cable. Especially like the idea of downloading movies directly.

I'm running Media Center at home on my HP Desktop. It's not an OS you can get out and buy, it comes only on new PC's unless you are able to get a copy of it and get the remote and everything else necessary to run it properly.

I can't remember who it was on here but he got a copy of the OS and bought the remote and receiver and had a compatible video card and was playing things through a projector in his room. To cool!
