NEED PASSWORD HELP:Windows XP Pro

ok so i bought a used laptop from a guy in Oregon. well it has Windows XP on it and the Administrator login comes up and asks for the password. well i dont have that and the guy that i bought it from is out of town on vacation(that is what his neighbor told me). anyway i want to use this laptop. is there anyway to get past this or something. it is a Compaq Armada 7400 with windows XP professional.

I think you can click on username and type in adminstator and click enter, or something like that...but if that don't work go with ^^^^^ he knows his shit...

try typing administrator for the user name and password for the password. Most original operating systems are set up in this order unless they have been change.I am not a 100% on this but that is how I have seen many of them....

here is another option, reboot it and while its booting hit f8 a bunch of time, and a screen should show up (keep pressing f8 till it shows) then boot in safe mode with networking and there should be an admin account there, try logging in it.

PM me for info if you need it still. I've got tools that can reset a local admin password on an nt/2k/xp box.

Sadly I carry it with me on a cdr and floppy. If you have physical access it is very easy to do.
