Yeah there is. (I have the optical cables in use on my system)

If you don't use the optical cables, all you have to do is either, plug the red/white RCA plugs into the audio reciever, or into the tv in plugs, then tv out to the reciever IN plugs. It's easiet to do the first suggestion. Plug the PS2 Audio cables directly to the Reciever.
BTW, it's not 'True' Surround when connected with the RCA's.

don't qoute me on this, but I THINK
the PS2, most games will only have surrond sound (5.1) in the Cut Scenes...
so it's kinda useless...

Ok my sorround dvd system only has one inout red & white for audio one input for red, white and yellow. And one output for red & white.I am thinking that I need to go to like walmart or radio shack or fryes or something and get some kind of switch or converter.I tried plugging my rca's from my ps2 to the input on the dvd system but that would only have a video(yellow)input and not one for out to the t.v. I think walmart sells something that would have an input and an output. Therefore I could go ps2 to input dvd system to input of switch or box from output of switch or box to the input of the t.v. Tell me what you guys think.I know that not all games it would work on but like on Splinter cell and metal of honor I think it would be sweet.....thx for any help.

you need a receiver with digital inputs. Your htib most likely doesnt have them. Thats the only way to get a digital signal.

NO! That definatley would not work!

Dude, you're making this waaay too complicated. Just connect the red/white cables to the Reciever in. And the yellow to the TV in. You won't get sound out of the TV, but you will out of the reciever.

You don't need to buy anything to get this to work right.

or if you really want to make this REAL simple, go out and buy the 5.1 system SONY sells exclusively for the PS2..my bro has it, and it's pretty bad ass.

EDIT: cool I post @ 4:20...too bad I don't smoke anymore...
