Help me pick out a heatsink/fan
For my 3 gig P4
I'm having some heating issues and decided I need a new heatsink.
I have heard good things about the new Jet 4 stuff from Cooler Master, but I'm not a huge fan of all that bling. Anyway, I'm willing to spend around $30 and don't want anything that's going to cause fitment issues. What do you guys recommend?

I had the ThermalTake Slient Boost and then Modded a Torndo fan orwhatever onto it, I also have my shit oced to a 3200 amd barton.

since we're on the topic...what would you "guys" recommend for a Socket A AMD
(Amd 3000+ no oc)..
and what about a good north bridge cooler?
Also silver, are you going to be using any AS5?
a couple of amd techs, told me to use thermal pads for my amd..is that better than using paste?

thermal pads are pretty good, but if you know what your doing with thermal paste you cant beat the thermal conductivity (sp?). I use AS5 and you can see my temps, i am running a p4 3.06

the swiftech is supposed to be a good piece, but it's not cheap.
if i were going to buy one, i'd buy the xP-120 for p4, because its a fuckload lighter than a comparable copper unit.
the sp-94 is a great sink too, but very heavy, and the AMD guys have to make sure to have the holes in their mobos.
if you aren't trying to get crazy, Fry's has a pretty decent little socket -A cooler for 25-30$, and it's the ONLY cooler there for any platform that is worth buying.

You could just buy a faster cpu for the price of that heatsink

The new Thermaltake Volcano 12 is awesome. I upgraded to it from stock and dropped 12 degrees at idle. I am overclocking my cpu significantly and it has no problems keeping things cool. I have had Vantec, Gigabyte, and Thermalright. This is so far the best of the bunch and right is reasonable.

those temps are kickass, water coolers are great i just dont like the concept of putting water in my computer lol
