Win200 login prob...

Friend has a win2000 who he got from another friend..anyways......niether of them remember the password to log on...anybody here know how to bypass it w/out having to format it and reload it.....thanks...will check up on this later.....at work right now... so any suggestion will help

there is a software tool i have that can reset the password. Was the computer part of a domian or not?

Not sure, I don't have the computer, it's my friends, he don't know too much about computers, so I thought I'd try posting it up here for suggestions....that tool you have..is pretty easy to use

He's trying to see if there is an easy way to bypass it without changing anything like
registry..directory things like that, cause he's not to "great" with pc's...he don't mine formating it , but he rather not............thanks

if he is wiling to reformat.. then he should at least give a try with the bootdisk link i posted above, marris' posted a link that has other options but the link i posted is on top of the list

yeah, i wasn't sure of the link i got my bootdisk from, but it's in my bag of tricks

That linux boot cd is the shit. It will even work on a DC to recover the domain admin account. I've used it many times with success on each try.
I usually just blank the password and then set it to a known password once the OS comes back up.
