I saw that deal also about the NEC D/L burner, isnt that what you got? I saw that thread and started looking for media and had a hard time finding it. Whats the deal with dual layer anyway? Does it basically hold twice as much data as a single layer DVD?

Yeah i bought that NEC, Dual layer hold 8.5 GB, Movies DVD's are dual layer (actually they might be triple layer now) .

But the simple answer is that it holds 8.5GB instead of 4.7

As far as I've heard, Dual Layer DVD media is not available yet, but once it does become available, expect it to be several bucks per disc.

In the meantime, buy a 50 DVD spindle for $16 here: http://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?r=...ta=1&s_cata=88

That ends up being $0.32 a DVD. Free shipping too!

I think the price for those DVD's is so low cause they're 2x. Several of the people that reviewed them said they where able to burn them @ 4x without any problems though.
