Looking to buy photoshop. Where to get cheap?

My class at UTA is using photoshop. I hate having to drive back and forth when I could just put it on my computer and work from here. I checked the school computer sales and they offer it for almost $300. I thought it was going to be dirt cheap being that the school was selling it.

Any suggestions, let me know.

Thanks

300 is cheap for that. I think full retail is 600+

Know you know why PS is one of the more commonly "downloaded" pieces of software.

That's where I used to get software when I was going to the Art Institute. They have the entire Creative Suite 2.0 Premium for $400, but Photoshop by itself is still $300. (The suite has Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, and Acrobat 7 Pro.)

That got expensive, I remember it used to be around $100 when I was in school.

The place is local too, off 35 north of 635.

Have you tried GIMP

GIMP is an opensource image manipulation program, it has alot of the features that photoshop has, but at no cost. It's free. There is a version available for windows. Thougt you might want to know.

The GIMP is great, but if his class is going over photoshop, it'd probably be best if he uses photoshop, since some of the commands/terminology in the gimp are different.
