Help with crashed Hard Drive.

Can anyone here perform this task, or recommend a service station that'll do it
without costing me an arm and a leg? I've had a friend (works for Alcatel)
look over my puter, and he said the hard drive seems to be gone (won't spin, reboot,
startup, etc). Most important things I'd like to recover off of it, are digital pictures of
my son and family. Please email me at:

[email protected]

And no, I didn't have a backup of my data

Here's the make/model of the drive:
Seagate
30gb
ST330630A

Thx,
TC

Most any of those places that can recover data from a drive after physical failure is not going to be cheap. Probably several hundreds of dollars. These services are not usually designed for saving home pictures but more common in a corporate environment or recovering data for a legal reason.

I'd hate to say it but the chances are the data is lost or may be cost prohibitive. It all depends on what value you put on the data.

....

True about the cost, that's why I was trying to find a person here/locally that would try and give it a shot. I have 2 guys lined up to check it out, but haven't set up a time to meet. The importance of the data is great, but I'm also not going to shell out more money than what my computers worth. We have tons of film pictures we took of the little one, so it's no biggy if I get it recovered or not. I also have a few personal MP3's I'd like to recover.
Thx,
TC

Sorry I don't have any contacts for that. I've got a few friends that work doing computer forensics for law firms for court cases but I don't think they have any tools for that kind of stuff.
