hijacking my homepage

I am having to deal with a hijacking program setting my homepage to http://nkvd.us/1507/

its driving me crazy as i have tried everything short of registry edits. I have used spybot S&D and adaware, they find the hijackers, but the problem persists. I cant go to any websites besides this one through a hyperlink in my history.

it claims an uninstall can be found here : http://www.smart-finder.biz/1507/uninstall.htm but i am weary of registry changes.

i think its my god damned brother and his Pacific Poker game he has.

I have run into those before, some you can actually use their uninstaller and some you can't. If the uninstaller doesn't work it usually won't do any other damage. Do a Google search on it (if you can) and see if you can find any discussion topics on it. Personally at this point I would try and use the unistaller.

One last thing, once you do get it cleaned and taken care of I would recommend getting all of the programs from this site, especially the last one that notifies you when a program adds or modifies any registry keys and then gives you the option not to allow it.

Good Luck to you, let me know if you need any other info!

If none of these work you may need to make changes. Just make sure you make a back up first, just incase you screw up.

Fixing this can be as simple as doing a search in your registry for http://nkvd.us/1507/ and deleting every instance of it. Once your reset your homepage, lock it down so it cant ever be changed again.
