Pricewatch

www.pricewatch.com you dont need anything special, just PC100 SODIMM for laptops I believe. Just look on pricewatch for laptop memory. I bought I think a 256mb for my laptop over a year ago for less than $70. You dont need Dell specific memory

I have two Dell Precision 650 workstations that have a dual 2.66 Xeon processor setup. I purchased some compatible memory from Fry’s but it caused both computers to have periodic system lockups. So, I went ahead and removed the Fry’s memory, purchased the expensive Dell memory, and installed the new memory into both computers. The Dell memory worked! FWIW they both have 1.50 GB of RAM.

Since your luck is better than mine, you may just get by with some cheaper memory. Damn, KJ you have the best luck!

Thumbs down

I have had bad luck with cheap memory and Dell's... now this was on Deminsion desktops.. but I tried many diffren't brands of ram from frys cheap stuff... too best buy's expensive stuff. Nothing would work system would never boot.

Bought Dell's ram and it worked perfectly... go figure...

Crucial makes some stuff that works with Dell and is cheaper. I've got some of their stuff in my poweredge 2650s that run as DCs, web, file, print servers etc.

All production environment and so far no troubles. I can double check for you if you want with my source at Dell.

My brother has worked for Dell over 5 years in various tech support roles.

Sure... if you can get a hookup that would be sweet.
