Good free distro of linux...?

I want to DL a distro of linux and play around with it some... I'm getting a second hard drive to install it on, but I need to know of a good distro for a linux newb...I was thinking about red hat???

mandrake 10 is nice for newbs.. check out www.mandrakelinux.com for ftp sites.

EDIT: http://www.linuxiso.org has lots of good quick ftp sites to download diffren't distro's from.

you can buy the distro in a retail box but they're still free to download, its just they are very large...

well, its best to have all three cd's... and yes it has a boot manager.. it has lilo and grup. If you need a dual boot.. there is mixed results with it automatically setting up a dual boot with winxp, It worked for me.. others said it ruined there windows partition..
