you need to connect o a UNIX ftp server? and transfer a file??

if so.. yes it can be done...

to open an ftp connection (from command line)

ftp
open ipaddressorhostname
dir (to show directorys)

to download a file, type in

get /path/to/filename

to sent a file

send /path/to/filename

I'd agree with Trey. It can be done but not on one line.

You can script this but not in one line.

of course you can get the file lol..but to do it all in one command line i dont think you can do.

you can write a script file and it will do it all.

The problem I have is we don't want to do it in a script, we need to do it dynamically from a java program. So the server, username, password, and filename are all being retrieved from a properties file, then feed into a string that I push out to a command line. Thus the need to do it all on one line.

So cruz, I assume that line you wrote will get a file, would doing

ncftpset be the one to send a file or ncftpsend ?

Thanks

wget

such as:

wget ftp://user:[email protected]/path/to/file
