computer problems, pissing me off

okay, i have had this athlon up and running for a few days now, and this thing is annoying as hell, it is apparently "unlocked" but everytime i touch any of the settings, it shits a brick.

niether here nor there, however the current problem i cannot figure out.

all components except for mobo/processor are tested good, and running correctly.

when i try to boot the computer, the monitor never comes out of standby mode, and the computer makes no sounds/etc.

have switched, swapped, reseated, and unplugged until i am blue in the face.

any help is greatly appreciated.

have you tryed taken the battery out of the Mobo....also does your mothboard have a on board video card or are you using some other one gf or Rad or somthing

To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

Try moving the reset bios jumper, turn it on, wait a few seconds, turn it off and move it back.

i have removed the...
battery,
switched the jumper
unplugged the power connectors/changed power supplies,
unplugged everything but vid card, and 1 stick of known good ram.

there is no onboard video on my board, however the card had been running that machine for a while, and is currently in use in my other pc, right now.

fans running

If the fans on the back of the machine aren't coming on, check the cable into the power supply. Sounds like power's not even getting to the board. If there were a problem with the BIOS, it would beep at you.

Wish I could help. Luckily for me, when I built my machine, and had the same problem, it was a loose connection. Hope ya get it fixed.

Is a thunderbird or XP processor? Did you do the "unlock" yourself? I had problems when I tried overclocking mine because it overheated instantly. Does it work fine when the settings are set to normal?

Have you also tested it with different fans? Oddly one of the computers I built had a faulty fan and it screwed the whole system.

What board do you have? I have an A-bit board and an athlon 2800+ w/o any problems so far. What version board is it? V1 or V2?

Most likely it is a broken mobo, less likely CPU.

A month is too long I'm afraid. Test which one is broken. If you can't get anyone that is closer to help, you're welcome to stop by and use my spare computer to test them. Then return it to manufacturer for replacement.

I had this problem a few weeks ago... It was a bad video card.
