After I installed Dr DivX

I started having trouble playing back video. Well DVD's anyway. I got an error, I'll get a screenshot here in a minute. It says that I need to adjust my resolution, but it's not that. I uninstalled the program, and I still get my errors. Any ideas?

XP System restore is out of the question. It won't work on my PC. Apparently SP1 is incompatible with HP, and it causes an error, unabling the system restore to complete. There I get the cause was an improper shut down

Thumbs up

This is the error. I get fatal errors with any of my other DVD playback software

Also, doing what the error prompt says, does not work.

It's not a hardware issue since it did work before the Dr Divx install. I got it to where it'll play dvd's, but the audio is extremely muddy. I can uninstall all of my playback software, but I never figured out how to uninstall media player. It's not where the rest of the uninstall files are in the control panel.

dont worry about media player.. it uses your software decoder or your hardware decoder (depending on which you have)

but all the other dvd playing stuff... ditch it all. and reinstall. Not sure about the sound..

next time.. to get divx, just find something with the information file and the dll file... you dont have to install a program for it.

It's weird, the audio from my mp3's is perfect, and saved videos are perfect. But the audio playback directly from the dvd is muddy.

I'll look to ditch everything when I get home.
