How to backup a application??????

I need to know how to save Photoshop to disk, because I am fixing to do a clean install of XP and am going to wipe out my hard drive completley before starting the install and this is the only program that I want to save. How do I save it? I have a CD and DVD burner if I can do it that way.

you really cant back up applications like that... there are reg keys that would need to back up.. and dlls that would need to be registered...

best off just (re-downloading from kazaa )reinstalling from your original cd

Do you not have the setup package for photopshop from when you installed it on your system?

Trey's right. Generally, its not as easy as dragging/dropping an app directory to save it. Related files are scatered accross your filesystem for most applications.

Saving/having the vendor setup package is the only REAL way to backup an application.

no, trey means registry keys not registration code. the only thing you can do is re-install the program. you can save your .psd files, but thats about it. installing PS isnt that hard to do...

But it could be if you don't have the media to reinstall. This is the only reason I can think of why you would want to try something like this.

Its been said many times but you can't just "pick up" an app like that and move it over. Old dos stuff or self contained executables are fine but not software that installs registry keys, etc.
