desktop hard drive in desktop

I need to grab some data off a portable hard drive that is in a broke notebook.

They sell a case that you could slip the HD into and plug it into your Desktop computer via USB or FireWire. I borrowed one from a friend of mine a while back and it shows as an additional drive in Windows Explorer when you connect it.

Also Fry's sells an adaptor for hooking up laptop hard drives directly to an IDE cable. We use these all the time at work if we need to recover data from a laptop.

Those adapters are really cool, I've seen em in action. The enclosures are sweet also, my dad has one and its pretty bad ass. 120G whenever/wherever for cheap.
