I upgraded my wife's computer from ME to XP. Upgraded just fine, didn't have to do anything but put the CD in.

I agree with Josh. Win ME uses a different kernel technology then XP. It may upgrade without a hitch but later down the line there may be problems that arise.

I had to Fdisk/Format C and start over to get ME to XP. I had no problems once I did that.

If you don't mind loosing all your programs and files, just pop in the Windows XP CD, boot up from it ( may have to enter the system BIOS and set the CD as your first boot device), when prompted select the partition and Delete it, once you've deleted all your partitions, select the unpartitioned space and select to quick format it with NTFS (better file management file system) and proceed with loading XP. It's pretty straight forward from there.

I've had mixed 'upgrading' experiences w/ Microsoft OSs. Sometimes ok, sometimes not. I'd venture to say if your considering upgrading ME to prepare yourself for a problem; my experiences w/ ME have been less than desireable.

There is, ask your geekiest friend to come do it for you

Kenny_stang is right on the money though. Follow his instructions and you'll be set. Most of them you'll understand when you're actually doing it.

'98 Camaro SS: Incon twin turbo. Sold
'99 Camaro SS: Heads/cam/bolt-ons. Sold.
'91 Camaro RS: Stock.

2010 Camaro SS: Hell yes.

I just got thru with it today and it was simple. Just follow the on screen prompts and delete the partition and convert Fat32 to ntfs and you are home free.
