I'm having the same problem, corrupt files everywhere. Checkdisk corrects them but a lot of files are lost and corrupted files keep coming. I have ran diagnosis on the harddrive about a dozen times and it seems to be fine, I'm thinking it's one of the recent WinXP updates that is causing this, possibly after upgrading to wmplayer 9.0.

Have you used the update feature and have the latest updates? If you could, run update and see what you're missing so we can compare setups.

Talking

I would think constant corruption of files would be a hardware issue. Physical errors on the drive would be my first guess, but bad memory can corrupt files also.

Are they the same files that keep getting corrupted or random, non-related files? You should backup your files like SS was advising. I would then wipe the drive and reimage the machine with a clean install of XP. SP and patch it up to date and see what happens.

EDIT: Actually, a corrupt (or replaced) wmplayer.exe file could be a fingerprint of a worm virus reported recently. Ck it out and make sure your AV software is up to date with the latest virus DAT file/engine.

I'm working on it. I have not updating anything since I installed Windows XP about a month ago. I believe taht message only comes up when Windows Media Player is on and I am on the internet at the same time. Not exactly sure on that one. I have the latest edition of Norton, I hguess I should run it, duh!! That is the only file the is repeatedly coming up as corrupt even after chkdsk.

Problem

Guys,
infact it does sound like a worm.

1) For any music media use winamp.

www.winamp.com

2) Back your shit up and start over
3) After a fresh install
4) IF you are on a highspeed connection get a FIREWALL
even if you have a router get BLACK ICE or even SYGATE
personal 5.5 fire wall.
www.tucows.com www.cnet.com choice downloads

5) Get NORTON anitvirus and scan every file you down load from here on out.
