password policies are configured in your group policies.

From AD users and computers right click on the OU's and you should be able to find the group policies. There is a default domain policy and then you can apply additional policies to each OU.

Group policies can be fun. I use it to contol my users. I have 3 different OUs and a different group policy for each.

You can have lots of fun with policies. I lock them out of most everything.

Policies are great on a college campus. We have different ones for Students and Fac/Staff, even different departments depending on their needs.

Heaven or Hell? It's your choice.

Its also handy so that when I log in I get full access back. Its also useful that you can just drag and drop users to different OU's if they need other rights for a limited time.

Is there another policy attached to the OU where you are trying to add the user?

sweet! it worked! i went to gpedit.msc and fixed the policies and well, it worked. now im going to try to see if i can log on from my laptop. question, i named the domain quintana.com but on the laptop it shows up as QUINTANA would that be because i dont have DNS installed yet and its using a NetBIOS name?

in the logon list.. it will show the netbios name, not the full dns name.

client side dns... make sure it points to your AD DNS server... AD REQUIRES DNS SETTINGS ON THE CLIENT MACHINE TO POINT TO THE AD DNS SERVER
